Editor's note: Currently, when transporting lithium-ion battery energy storage modules in the industry, the charging capacity of the battery is usually maintained at around 30%. The purpose is to minimize the charging capacity to avoid fire, but at the same time, it is necessary to maintain a certain amount of electricity to prevent damage to battery performance. However, even so, there will still be combustion accidents during transportation, which is still in the colder winter. So, currently some companies are also researching transportation and storage methods for batteries with zero charging capacity, which is expected to further reduce the risk of explosion during transportation.

At 09:56 on January 12th, a truck caught fire on the Beijing Hong Kong Macao Expressway in Jiangxia District, Wuhan, heading towards Changsha, Hunan. After receiving the alarm, Wuhan Fire 119 Command Center quickly dispatched Anshan and Jingang Fire Rescue Stations to the scene for disposal, and the fire was promptly extinguished.
At 10:09, firefighters arrived at the scene and found a large truck loaded with lithium batteries parked in the emergency lane. The front of the truck had separated from the carriage, and the carriage was burning fiercely. The flames were occasionally spraying outwards, emitting thick smoke and occasional explosions. After a long period of fire, there was a risk of explosion at any time.
After on-site reconnaissance, firefighting and rescue personnel quickly alerted the highway section and laid water hoses to extinguish the fire. After six hours of hard work, the fire rescue personnel successfully put out the fire with foam extinguishing agent, cleaned up the residual items in the vehicle, and cooled down to prevent the fire from re burning.
According to the truck driver, the vehicle departed from Beijing and was transported to Hainan. The vehicle was loaded with lithium iron phosphate battery modules, and caught fire while driving. When it was discovered, the fire quickly spread. Therefore, the driver quickly pulled over to escape and immediately dialed "119" for help.
